The Channel Island’s largest dedicated Data Centre is open in Guernsey on time and in budget.

Wave Telecom is an important strategic growth area for the Jersey Telecom Group, and having committed to fixed and mobile telecommunications across the Bailiwick of Guernsey, it has now expanded into new and innovative markets, including data hosting.

In January this year, the Newtel Guernsey acquisition was concluded providing Wave with further growth opportunities and supporting the strategic aims of the States of Guernsey in developing new business for the island.

Data hosting requires the very best in network connectivity, stringent security measures, site diversity and 24/7/365 support whether this is for eGaming or local businesses. This state of the art Data Centre at First Tower Lane ensures Wave can provide this. The centre is kept sterile with the temperature, humidity, dust and dirt levels monitored to ensure nothing can impact on the safe running of the equipment.

Wave Telecom’s Business Development Manager, Bryan Turney, says: “Guernsey is the ideal geographical location for a Data Centre with its low tax jurisdiction, small risk of terrorists threats, stable Government and legislation and is also close enough to users in the UK and Europe who wish to move faster online. In particular, e-Gaming is big news for Guernsey, and with the strong regulation in place and the network connectivity, we are well placed to support this growth.

2010 is an exciting year for Wave Telecom, as it fully embraces growth in the data hosting industry. The Data Centre at First Tower Lane will expand over the coming months, offering employment opportunities for locals, and injecting more money into the local economy.
