Jersey Telecom’s Head of Commercial Administration has been presented with an award by the GSM Association (GSMA), the governing body of the GSM Industry which is made up of members from over 750 networks, from 219 countries and territories.
At the GSMA’s biannual BARG event, which took place in Cairo, Cara Murphy was presented with an award for her ‘extraordinary work and accomplishments’ in her contribution towards the development of industry standards, particularly in relation to her work as Deputy Chair of the BARG subgroup ‘RING’.
Miss Murphy was elected to the senior role of Deputy Chair of the Roaming Innovation Group (RING), a working group within the GSMA, in 2008 and has since been involved in managing the group in making recommendations and developing global standards regarding innovative solutions for operational roaming issues.
Tim Ringsdore, MD of the CI Division at Jersey Telecom said: “Jersey Telecom has been an active member of the GSMA for many years and although on a global scale we are a small telecommunications company, we work alongside many of the world’s biggest mobile operators to define and agree industry standards. Cara’s role within the GSMA is a vital link between us and the GSM community and we are delighted that her representation at this level within such an influential group has been recognised”.
Reinhard Creft, EMC Chair, GSM Association: “In addition to Cara’s contribution to BARG activities, the sharing of her Roaming knowledge and experiences have been greatly appreciated. Cara is widely recognised by her peers as being dedicated to the work of RING, helping achieve the group objectives and goals and for this we are very grateful.”
Miss Murphy has worked for Jersey Telecom for 13 years and is responsible for managing all roaming activities and commercial relationships with other networks around the world which enable Jersey Telecom customers to use their mobile phones worldwide.
